Beginning at 9 am Saturday, enter the Cathedral at the accessible ramp entrance in the northwest corner of the Cathedral building (around the corner from the main entrance). Washington National Cathedral is presenting a festival celebrating the fiftieth anniversary of the dedication of the Kibbey Carillon. The festival will feature carillon recitals by guest artists David Johnson, President of the Guild of Carillonneurs in North America and carillonneur of House of Hope Presbyterian Church; Elizabeth Berghout, carillonneur of the University of Kansas; a special carillon duet performance by Philadelphia-area carillonneurs Lisa Lonie and Janet Tebbel; and a full peal attempt by The Ancient Society of College Youths. Between performances, tours of the Central Tower will be offered along with lectures and workshops focusing on the history of the Cathedral’s Kibbey Carillon, liturgical music, carillon interpretation and programming.
