× The Contemplative King: A Morning Retreat for Contemplatives and Activists
Saturday, January 13, 2018 | 9:00am

“Only through an inner spiritual transformation do we gain the strength to fight vigorously the evils of the world in a humble and loving spirit,” said Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. “And this is the only thing that can keep one going in difficult periods.”

What can we learn from his transformation from a “rational” minister to the passionate civil rights activist who changed the course of America’s history? How did he deal with fear, disappointment, and people who hated him? (How did he find the time?) Most importantly, what advice did he give for transforming ourselves?

Gather with us at Washington National Cathedral to find out. We will sit, walk, look, sing, pray, and listen—to his words, the Spirit, and to each other. And together we will explore his tools for transformation. For questions or to learn more, contact us at programs@cathedral.org.
