Cultural Fusion: The Gamelan Experience
Wednesday, January 23, 2019 | 7:30pm

Experience Gamelan—the traditional music of Indonesia, with individual instruments played by multiple performers at once—in the sacred space of Washington National Cathedral, featuring PostClassical Ensemble.

In this unforgettable performance, you'll be transported to the magical islands of Indonesia, listening to the Gamelan's ethereal sounds that seem to hover, shimmering in the air.

We'll also explore the Gamelan's outsized influence on Western music.

Traditional Indonesian dance, along with rare archival films, will accompany the Gamelan, followed by a cuisine reception.
